“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.”
-Rumi

Paula Carpenter grew up in the Detroit area and moved to Arizona in her early 20’s to finish her degree in business and computer science at the University of Arizona. Paula pursued a career in the high-tech industry and recently retired as a business executive of a cyber security company in Kirkland WA.
Paula is married to Ken Carpenter who she met while working for IBM in the Phoenix area, nearly 40 years ago. Paula has 3 stepdaughters with Ken and 3 grandchildren, none of whom live in CO. Paula and Ken moved to CO and The Village 12 years ago.
Paula enjoys riding horses in the mountains and fly-fishing at their Ranch in Pine, CO. Paula also enjoys music, reading, practicing meditation and walking her King Charles Spaniel, Gus. Paula also enjoys travel having travelled to all seven continents and is looking forward to an African Safari early next year.
Flower arranging and growing herbs and vegetables in her container garden on her balcony here in the Village are passions of Paula’s throughout the summer months. Paula is looking forward to joining the Garden Club and making new friends as she transitions from a hectic work schedule to the life of retirement.
Funny experience – There was this time, a very long time ago, when she spent two hours in a Turkish jail, ending with a picnic enjoying grilled lamb burgers and vodka shots with the Turkish guards.
Best advice – Listen more and talk less.
Favorite quote – “Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” Rumi
